Optimized website is one of the main concerns for enthusiastic online entrepreneurs who have just been assigned their domain name for a site. Some budding entrepreneurs may not fully understand the importance & definition of SEO and PPC.

SEO means Search Engine Optimization

This is the method, technique or internal policies of a website by which it will attract visitors from various search engines with the help of keywords related to their products and services.

PPC means Pay Per Click

Websites pay search engines like Google or third-party platforms like Facebook a fee to strategically place their advertisements in the feeds or search results of prospects interested in their product or service.

ppc vs seo

Both start with keyword research

If you want to work SEO you need to do keyword research. If you want to create PPC campaigns you need to do keyword research.

Head terms are short keywords – like say “Insurance” or ‘A/B Testing” are notoriously difficult to rank for. But they are evergreen. They never go out of style. So, create cornerstone content for these competitive keywords in the form of glossaries that you can keep adding to.

Long tail keywords indicate a strong purchase intent. They signal prospects who are aware that they have a problem and are actively seeking a solution. For them you can create landing pages that either provide information up-front, or segue into lead magnets.

The beauty of PPC is, it can positively impact factors like time on page and bounce rate. These happen to be signals search engines like Google use to refine SERPs. With a well-placed ad that goes to a tightly coupled landing page, you are actually supporting the organic ranking of that landing page.

Some websites do not use ads initially, choosing to concentrate all efforts on SEO strategies instead. When they finally decide to begin a PPC campaign, a list of organically converting keywords will already be at hand.

Short conclusion

There is no doubt that SEO practices and a productive PPC policy are vital to the success of a website, but graphics, layout, and design also play an essential role. The overall appearance of the website design should be aesthetically pleasing.

It is never too late to combine SEO and PPC to achieve better website visibility. However, having them both in your initial marketing strategy is the best approach.

When combined, you won’t have to wait until your site appears in organic SERPs to get some traffic data.

Google are very much presenting themselves as a “data platform” now. That is, not just a search and advertising platform.

That was always the purpose of the Urchin acquisition back in 2005. But now things are becomeing much more integrated and holistic for marketers and web site owners.

Official explanation from Google is:

The Google Analytics 360 Suite is a set of integrated data-and-marketing analysis products that are designed specifically for marketers who operate at the enterprise level.

This suite of products lets you analyze consumer behavior, develop relevant insights, and then provide a more engaging brand experience.

The Google Analytics 360 Suite comprises:

  • Google Analytics 360 Suite Home: Use the Overview and Admin tabs to manage the 360 Suite.
  • Google Analytics 360: Develop insights into how users engage with your business online and offline.
  • Google Attribution 360: Model cross-channel, cross-device attribution that focuses on ad impressions and ad clicks.
  • Google Audience Center 360: Consolidate audience lists and user data to build new audiences, publish those audiences to your marketing platforms, and report on their performance.
  • Google Tag Manager 360: Use an enterprise workflow to manage web and app tags from a single interface.
  • Google Optimize 360: Run website experiments and personalize content for different audiences.
  • Google Surveys 360: Create online surveys“

Difference between Google Analytics and Google Analytics 360

Google Analytics comes in two flavors – the free version that most people have come to love and the enterprise version, Google Analytics 360.

The free version is great for many use cases, but for companies that need increases in data limits, turnkey data integrations, and advanced reporting and attribution, Google Analytics 360 may be the better choice.

Both versions of Google Analytics enable you to collect data from websites, mobile apps for iOS and Android, and from custom data sources via the Measurement Protocol.

GA360 has much higher limits on the amount of data that can be collected, with a tiered set of limits starting way, way higher!

The main differences between the standard and enterprise versions of Google Analytics deal with handling larger volumes of data, in collection, integrations with GMP and Salesforce products, unsampled reporting, and export to BigQuery.

Short conclusion

If you are an existing Google Analytics user, the announcement of the suite is great news because each product in the suite can be purchased individually.

The biggest thing is that Google is starting to really connect all of their products together, and we are just starting to see the benefits and capabilities.

This is probably the number one question for every marketer who is in the field of Search Engine Optimization.

Links are a way for users to get relevant information on the internet. They are also a ranking factor for your pages. However, having links is not enough.

Their quality matters. Google takes into account not only the number of backlinks a web page has but their quality as well.

Sadly, some SEOs, in the rush to make their sites appear popular to search engine crawlers, invest in low-quality links. High-quality link building, however, is the only way to get desirable results.

how to get quality backlinks in seo

What determines high quality links?

High quality links can be determined by these three factors: authority of the linking page, authority of the linking site and content relevance.

The authority of the page linking to you is important to Google. The logic is that if an authoritative page has noticed your content, it must be impactful and relevant.

The site-wide authority of the linking website is also an important indication to Google that your site is authoritative.

Page rank and domain authority are of no consequence if the web content is irrelevant. For instance, the prospect of getting a link from NYTimes.com sounds amazing.

However, the link is useless to you if the subject matter of the article doesn’t relate to the subject matter of your website.

How to get quality backlinks?

Create high quality links – Always write content for your audience, not for Google. Your content must be easily readable and informative.

Broken link building – After finding the broken link, contact the webmaster and let them know about their broken link. While notifying them about a broken link, provide your content link to replace that link. Don’t be greedy, always be friendly while contacting the webmaster.

Guest blogging – Guest blogging is still the most popular and effective way to build links. Guest blogging helps you in increasing your brand reputation and social media followers.

Request link for your brand mention – If you have too many high quality contents then it is possible that many websites have mentioned your brand name in their content. You can use google alerts to find which website has used your brand name.

Short conclusion

For more than two decades, link-building has been a sound SEO strategy for many. This is unlikely to change in the coming years.

If you hope to succeed, you must learn to recognize a high-quality link and, more importantly, how to get one. The days are gone when you can easily build backlinks by doing link submissions.

I’m sure you listened or watched podcast at least once in a lifetime. You may be a sports fan and follow the podcast associated with your club; you may want to stay up to date with the latest marketing tactics or you like to listen about food and interesting new recipes.

There are plenty of options and topics to watch and listen. Have you ever wondered how you could run a podcast related to your business?

No matter what business you’re in, chances are you have some competition. Maybe your product or service is superior to other options that exist in your market. Maybe it isn’t.

Having the best offer doesn’t matter. Instead, concentrate on making sure your target market perceives your company’s deal to be the right one for them. Until they believe, they may never buy from you.

Why is podcasting interesting?

It’s convenient to consume. Compared to text and video content, audio content is more accessible for users.

They can listen to your podcast while they’re exercising or driving, for example. Your podcast won’t take them away from those activities; it will enrich them.

Also, it can increase your reach and grows your audience. When you publish your podcast on platforms such as iTunes and Stitcher, you expose your content to thousands of potential listeners for free.

These platforms are search engines, and people use them to find podcasts as well as hit singles.

You may think it’s complicated to create a podcast, but you are wrong. Recording a podcast episode is far less time-consuming than writing an article or recording a video.

To create a podcast episode, all you have to do is record yourself speaking (something you do naturally every day). You need decent microphone and a program for recording and editing your episodes.

Google to index podcast content

Google said at its I/O conference that it would begin indexing podcasts in its search results. Google’s search engine will surface relevant podcast episodes based on the content of the podcast, not just its title.

And people will be able to listen to that podcast within Google’s search results and save episodes to listen to later. The news is huge for the small but growing podcast industry, which struggles with fragmentation of listening apps and a lack of discoverability.

Short conclusion

Audio content is very personal. When someone hears you speak, they hear your personality and your authenticity. They can detect the excitement in your voice and feel your passion for helping them while you discuss topics that are relevant to you both.

This makes it easy for them to meet, like and trust you. Podcasts help your target market feel as if they already know you on an individual level.

Well, Facebook announced a lot of things. Here are the most important.

Facebook announced updates to Instagram, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Facebook’s core service.

Redesigning around groups and events

Facebook recently said that it would start downplaying the News Feed, and after the F8 keynote, we know more about what that means. In an update that Zuckerberg calls “FB5,” Facebook will highlight groups and events, creating a prominent groups tab and a personalized feed from the groups you’ve joined — rather than a generalized update feed from your friends. Group interaction options will show up while you’re browsing other parts of Facebook, too.

The redesign is also supposed to help people expand their social circles. It includes a feature called Meet New Friends, which connects strangers who have something (like a school or employer) in common. And it’s offering an easier way to find events near you as well. Android and iOS apps are getting an update right away; the desktop site will be revamped in the coming months.

Instagram is testing a system without likes

Meanwhile, Instagram is testing a system that will almost entirely hide likes on a person’s feed, so you can “focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes they get.” The feature will get a trial run in Canada, and if it proves popular, we might see it roll out in other countries.

Messenger will focus on close friends

Facebook is pushing the News Feed toward the margins in its main app, but it’s also reshaping Facebook Messenger as a way to keep up with your friends.

Messenger is actually getting a big refresh in general. On iOS, it’s being redesigned to take up less space on your phone; the new version will be under 30MB, about 20 percent of its current size. And if you’re using Messenger on desktop, you won’t have to keep it in a browser tab anymore — Facebook is launching desktop apps for Mac and PC later this year.

Changes are coming to WhatsApp

Businesses using WhatsApp can already have their own profiles with business descriptions and contact information, but WhatsApp will now let businesses display entire product catalogs directly on their profiles within the app that customers can browser through. “Now you can see what is available with a business,” said Zuckerberg.

The feature could help millions of small businesses that don’t have websites in countries like India, WhatsApp’s largest market, to lay out their goods directly on WhatsApp.

Short conclusion

Future is private. Zuckerberg outlined Facebook’s push to create a “private social platform” across all of its apps, including WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and Facebook.

Emoji reactions for young job seekers

Sometimes a “like” in social media doesn’t give the full picture, or you’re just not inspired enough to write a fuller response.

Because of that, LinkedIn introduced their reactions. In addition to “like,” you can now react in four other ways to posts with icons that indicate “celebrate,” “love,” “insightful” and “curious.”

Interesting to see, there are no „haha“. We will atribute it that not many laughs or entertainment to be found on LinkedIn, I guess?

LinkedIn’s rollout comes in the wake of similar moves on other social platforms — perhaps most noticeably on Facebook, which launched an expanded set of reaction buttons more than three years ago.

LinkedIn has never been one for jumping quickly to new trends, but this nevertheless shows that it’s listening and understands that it has to provide more to users to make its platform more dynamic, to help spur more engagement (and in turn more people posting to the platform).

Statement from Linkedin

“People come to LinkedIn every day to discover what’s happening in their professional communities and talk to one another about topics and ideas related to their work. These conversations cover a wide range, whether it’s discussing industry news, celebrating a company milestone, giving advice on someone’s job search journey, or sharing thoughts on important workplace topics like being a working parent.

One of the things we regularly hear from all of you is that you want more expressive ways than a “Like” to respond to the variety posts you see in your feed. At the same time, you’ve also told us that when you post on LinkedIn, you want more ways to feel heard and understand why someone liked what you said.

That’s why today we’re starting to roll out a set of Reactions on LinkedIn, giving you more ways to quickly and constructively communicate with one another.”

Short conclusion

We know you’re super excited to up your networking game, but you’ll have to wait. While they’re rolling out now, we’re told they’ll only be guaranteed to hit all regions and devices over the coming months. For now, you may just have to use your words.

Human-to-human connections are the heart and soul of business. At the end of the day, you’re dealing with people — your company is solving problems, alleviating pain points, and providing delightful customer experiences.

Storytelling is a powerful technique for building relationships. It’s an age-old concept that brings people together and keeps them engaged. It doesn’t matter where in the world you’re based or how much funding your startup has.

What is Brand Storytelling?

Brand storytelling is:

  • The reason why your company came to be
  • What motivates your team to wake up and come to work everyday
  • How your product came to be
  • What types of customers find value in working with your brand and why
  • A transparent view into the people behind the company
  • A relationship-building tool
  • More subtle than you realize
  • A concept that underscores your entire web presence
  • Something that your entire team, at organizational levels, embraces
  • A look into who you are as a company
  • Direct

Good examples of brand storytelling

Nike – equality campaign

Nike has always excelled at brand storytelling. One of their best campaigns is Equality. It makes a strong statement about the company as a force for positive social change, offering something more to today’s athletes than just a pair of sneakers and branded workout gear.

This is an example of using brand storytelling to connect with the audience, inviting them to become a part of a collective movement by wearing Nike products, or at the very least, engaging on social media, such as sharing one of the brand’s always inspiring videos.

Airbnb

For New Year’s 2015, the company told its story through an animated video, announcing that approximately 550,000 travelers had spent New Year’s Eve in one of their many rentals across 20,000 cities – a jump from just 2,000 guests 5 years previous.

Highlighting the most popular choices for AirBnB guests to ring in the New Year, New York topped the list with 47,000 travellers.

Just one example of how the brand uses data to tell engaging stories, AirBnB’s stories consistently resonate with its audience by bringing to life the things they care about – travelling and new experiences.

IBM

Every 6 hours, one person will die from melanoma in Australia.

This insight sparked global technology company IBM’s mission to use AI to “outthink melanoma” and champion early detection of the deadliest cancer down under.

Watson, the cutting-edge AI that was created, can detect melanoma with 31% more accuracy than the naked eye – something that can make all the difference for survival.

Launched in Bondi Beach during peak season, everyday Australians stood in front of a mirror and were analyzed by Watson, who determined and examined elements like age, gender and sunscreen coverage. If any risks or irregularities were spotted, the participant saw an on-site specialist for further treatment.

Short conclusion

Don’t overthink this process. Storytelling is something that we do naturally. More often than not, we don’t even realize that we’re doing it.

This may sound counterintuitive, but it’s the key to successful marketing. Stop thinking like a marketer. Stop trying to sell your product, and instead, focus on developing human interest. Answer the question of why people should care about what your company has to say.
